Application Reference 21/00772/PFUL3 — Nottingham City Council Approved 14th June 2021 This Carrington home contained a largely underutilised basement that our clients were keen to transform into genuinely functional living space. Working within a realistic budget and a sensitive set of personal circumstances, we developed a scheme that maximised the available floor area and addressed the key challenges of light, ventilation, and headroom that basement conversions invariably present. Through close collaboration with the client and a trusted local contractor, the works introduced a series of well-considered living spaces across the lower level — with carefully positioned light wells drawing natural daylight into what had previously been dark, inaccessible rooms. The conversion created a meaningful extension to the home's usable area, adding activity zones that have transformed how the family occupies and enjoys the property. The completed project is a testament to client-focused design — demonstrating how careful listening, practical problem-solving, and considered detailing can unlock a previously overlooked part of a home and deliver spaces that genuinely improve daily life.
